DC-1 is currently a developmental Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) based in the National Capital Region. We are a group of professional medical and support personnel designed to provide medical care and other critical response services during a disaster or other event. As part of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), DC-1 will be a rapid-response element to supplement local medical care during emergencies and disasters. Our mission profiles will include mass casualty triage, mass decontamination, field hospital deployment, providing high-quality medical care in austere environments, patient reception at staging facilities, and preparing patients for evacuation to other facilities in the NDMS.
DC-1 will be a community resource available to support response requirements across the National Capital Region (NCR), and we will also be a national resource available to support emergencies and disasters across the nation.
